My Thoughts

Friday, September 08, 2006…6:30am and the bathroom is calling again, so do my thing and back to bed…well at least for another 40 minutes, then I log on to see what properties want to see me and who doesn’t.

So today I’m off to see three locations and my first stop is with Danish at Horizon Towers B&B and Hostel. Upon my entrance I’m baffled because it also a senior home, but then I realize after talking to Danish that that’s the primary business, secondary are students and what’s left over will be for guests. Wow! What a mix of age ranges here, and yes the seniors are friendly and are up for conversation, but you better not bring your cheating ways to the shuttle board that’s played downstairs, it’s taken seriously…lol. Games, music, food and a place to pray…what more do you need…lol

Great lounge areas and any group and/or seminars are well accepted in this auditorium with a capacity of 150 persons. This is good for classes and any and every need…did I tell you that they’ll supply you with an audio person, that’s right.

Breakfast is special…a lot more than what you’d expect from most places, but an actual continental experience

Actually never seen a more reasonably priced laundry mat to keep my clothes clean, everything is priced with seniors and students in mind.

So, if you’re coming in late tonight…Well, either Joseph or someone else will take care of you at their 24 hour reception

Majority of the rooms are ensuite, so remember to ask first…now off to bed

12:30 and no one’s offering lunch…no on looking at my bloated belly..lol…it’s all good and now I’m back around Kensington Market., fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts…vintage clothing. Actually a village in a city and all the personality to that comes with it., see for yourself…

I walk into the Travelers Planet to meet Debbie and observe the relaxed atmosphere that the patrons have implied. I come by the front desk and that’s right take another picture.

Start my tour to the common cooking area and the outdoor patio where travelers get to enjoy the outdoors on a beautiful day like today

They’re more than accepting of groups here of all types without any preferences, all are welcome. They have private and dorms, but if your going private I’d ask for the one room that has a balcony. It’s not advertised and makes a pleasant surprise if you're fortunate to get it, but I’d still ask…very few things beat being in bed while either you and your partner makes breakfast for the other on a warm, beautiful morning and then you can take a walk round the neighborhood. This is the only property on our site that is in Kensington Market; as Debbie says, ‘it’s a village in a city’. I don’t believe I’ve heard it described so well. So if your looking to party, stay in the downtown core and enjoy the small restaurants that cater to a young up and coming hip crowd, then you’ll want to hang out for at least a night here.

There’s actually two places to lodge here and yes this newly renovated property is just across and down the street…and my down thee street isn’t my usual 20minute walk…lol

Right across is a park for your pleasure and still in Kensington Market…

This newly renovated property is all hardwood from what I saw and has a patio in back with a seating bench in front, this seems to be much more homely, good if your not partying to late tonight.

Oh! Did I mention great bar next door, not to this location…the other property, but I just remembered. Before I depart from the Planet Traveler, Debbie show me her gardening skills

My Scottish friend has a beautiful smile and is very helpful, passionate ‘bout the area and will make sure you get the information needed to enjoy yourselves in and out of the Market. It’s been fun!
