My Thoughts

Fortunately, I got a ride from the current Manager of Hostelling International – Marin Headlands, Neysa. Next door to San Francisco and is the backdrop to the worlds largest Art Deco structure the Golden Gate Bridge and you can actually hike, bike ride, bus it or take a short drive to the gentle rolling hills and streams of the Marin Headlands. She drove and the scenery is just mouth dropping for when we arrived and I stepped out of the car I was just relieved to be away from the big city, even if it was very temporary. I was in a very spacious room that could fit another 10 of me…lol. I came down to the main house of the staff and found out how loyal, but most of all how every staff member actually cared about the land, job and educating the guests. Neysa and I drove to town to pick up some small items and I had decided to leave my camera behind…bad idea because on our way we ended up seeing a bobcat and for a city man like me…I was just thrilled, now you know why I sleep with my camera…lol. Anyways upon our return we cooked, ate, played board games, laughed all night and took some great pictures of course. If I wanted to see some of the wildlife in the morning I was going to have to tuck in early tonight. I did get up and walked down the dirt road path that leads in and out of the hostel and saw some deer, just hanging out. Common for others, but not someone like me so I snapped away. Once returning inside, I meet a beautiful mother and daughter, we started chatting and by no time we all were in town looking for parking but most of all going to enjoy some more great conversation and breakfast. I received a full tour of the facilities upon my returns and it was amazing to see the group of children that were present to go camping with a volunteer hiking leader from the city, has he gave his prep talk the children were excited to go hiking for the day and just imagine what they might just lay their eyes upon. I found this to be a great place for the individual, but especially satisfying for a group of friends & family.
